SUMMARY:ERCES Workshop – Motorola NICET DAS training
DESCRIPTION:A rigorous technical preparation class for those looking to attain IB Wave NICET Level II skills and certification. This class prepares you for the exam which the student will schedule independently. \nERCES Workshop – Motorola NICET DAS training – INDIANA \nScheduled: Jul 29\, 2026 at 8:00 AM to 4:50 PM\, EDT \nLocation: 602 Vitality Drive\, Fortville\, IN 46040\, USA \n  \nERCES Workshop – Motorola NICET DAS training – INDIANA \nLodging Recommendation: TBD  Fishers IN \nREGISTER HERE \nRegistration: Class ID 0000114267 \n. \nPrerequisites :  This class assumes the participant has some experience with IBwave design and installation. It is more of a 200 level class covering both the NICET Installation and Design certification tests.  This session provides some cross training from individuals in the class sharing their experiences including those who have taken the NICET exam   If possible it is highly recommended to have the participant take (do not need to pass) the installer level 1 on-line test prior to attendance. The topics move fast and assume base knowledge. \nERCES Installer Training and NICET IB-PSC Prep \nInstructor:  Mike Brownson\, a 50-year veteran of the wireless industry with extensive ERCES experience\, will conduct the training. Mike is also the managing editor and contributing author of the Complete ERCES Handbook. \n  \nAbstract: Proper installation of ERCES (Emergency Responder Communication Enhancement Systems)\, also known as BDA or DAS\, requires specific knowledge of building and fire code requirements. This 2-day hands-on class will guide individuals through the proper design\, installation\, and implementation of these systems to ensure maximum performance and code compliance. This training will focus on best practices for installation\, testing\, and commissioning of ERCES system equipment. This class will also help prepare students to pass the NICET IB-PSC (In-Building Public Safety Communications) exam. Motorola Solutions has made the customization to focus a bit more on the design and engineering aspects covered by the NICET exam. Some construction topics were left in place as they have an impact on some of the submittal requirements and bill of materials. The session does cover Radio networks to get the group’s feedback on typical radio network designs. \nRegistration: $600 (before partner discount)  classroom is set to accommodate up to 20 students. Coffee/Drinks and Lunch provided both Tuesday and Wednesday and Tuesday Networking Reception with drinks / apps. Students will receive a copy of the Complete ERCES Handbook ($150 value)\, the complete definitive guide to ERCES systems. The ERCES Handbook is also a permitted reference in the NICET IB-PSC exams. \nNICET Certification: If the ultimate goal is to obtain NICET certification it is highly recommended the participants complete and submit the appropriate application 4 weeks PRIOR to the training session by visiting THIS SITE. \nMore information can be found on the NICET website \nMore information NICET Certification Program can be found HERE \nApplication Fees: \nLevel 1  $230 \nLevel 2  $300 \nLevel 3  $355 \nDesign  $355 \nNICET TEST: We highly recommend the participants to schedule their test 4 weeks PRIOR to the training session for the week after the training activity.  Testing Sessions scheduled independently through Pearson Vue Testing Centers \n* Before scheduling your exam appointment\, you must complete and submit the appropriate application. (See above) \n* Registering for your test early will give you the most scheduling options. You must register with Pearson at least one business day prior to your desired test date. \n* After you schedule your test\, Pearson VUE will send a confirmation letter listing your test date\, your testing time\, the address and phone number of the test center\, and directions to the test center. \nTUESDAY  7/28/2026 \n4:00 PM 6:00 PM Hotel arrival \n6:00 PM 7:30 PM Reception – Meet and Greet \n  \nWEDNESDAY  7/29/2026 \n6:00 7:15   Breakfast – on your own \n7:30     Training Facility Arrival \n8:00    Motorola Solutions Executive Welcome (Muench) \n8:20     The NICET Certification Process \n9:00     Introduction to Radio Networks \n*** break *** \n10:20   ERCES Project Lifecycle \n11:20   Review of Applicable Codes \n*** LUNCH PROVIDED ***  Share Lessons Learned – DAS War Stories \n1:20     Understanding Radio Frequency \n2:00    DAS Pre-Construction Process (Surveys) \n*** break *** \n3:20    DAS Pre-Construction Process (Surveys) \n4:00   Link Budgets \n*** break *** \n5:20 6:00 Sample Test \n6:00 6:30 Test Debrief \n6:45  Networking Reception – Drinks and Apps \nTHURSDAY  7/30/2026 \n6:00 7:15  Breakfast – on your own \n7:30   Training Facility Arrival \n8:00   Day 1 Topics – Review \n9:00   Understanding DAS Components \n*** break *** \n10:20   Design Submittals \n11:20   Construction and Installation \n*** LUNCH PROVIDED ***  Share Lessons Learned – DAS War Stories \n1:20    DAS Testing and Commissioning \n2:00   AHJ Acceptance Testing and Close-out Package \n*** break *** \n3:20   Sample Test Question Review \n4:00  Session Debrief
